sold my wb calls for a small profit and picked up mer puts.That probably means there will be an offer for wb,since i tend to be a contra-indicator!

Wb hired Goldman to advise them,according to the Charlotte Observer this morning.Todd,you may be spot on again..I bought the june 20s yesterday,they are up a bit today with good volume..

I wonder what role the Fed has in encouraging consolidation.It would be easier for them to prop up a few larger institution,and would prevent the panic that comes with a larger bank like WB going bust.

Still Too Early For Banks

poster is right all around.Speaking as a greybeard,with 35 yrs in the market, you're better off avoiding obvious dilutions like the financials.

I wish i could count the times I've had my ass handed to me listening to guys like Cramer,especially if they are saying what I want to hear.

I don't blame him,thats his job..but you have to understand his motivation for working at a halfass tv station..wonder if he can't make it in the market on his own??

He spends a lot of time kissing up the ceo's of various companies spouting their horseshit and pumping their stock..once again you can't blame them...Just beware.

Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses.
