Americans Forget High Oil Prices Too Quickly

I'm still not sure why US automakers are reluctant to really make a fuel efficient or a no gasoline vehicle. The new cars (Aveo included) don't get nearly the gas mileage they should and the automakers know it!! Like I said in a previous post, a well-tuned 1993 Geo Metro has all the cars beat on gas mileage, including the Prius. If they could make fuel efficient vehicles in 1993 it looks like they still could!!
I thought Chevrolet was thinking the right way with their new Volt, but then they had to stick a turbocharged engine on it so it would still be addicted to gas. Why not remove the engine and install more batteries where the engine was. If Tesla can do it you'd think GM could. Sorry I ran on so long.

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought.
