      Earnings Preview: Wells Fargo
This company is perhaps the best positioned financial powerhouse going forward. As was the case last earnings-WFC will gap up tomorrow and ignite a sustainable and thunderous rally in the financials. Investors will begin to sense the worst of the crisis is now in the past. Wall Street is forward thinking. Expect a new higy tomorrow and a 50 handle by Friday.

      Long WFC.

      Good Trading to all.

Can the Banking System Handle Huge New Write-Downs?
Did you ever think that maybe the homeowner is also responsible? What kink of person buying a home would not take into consideration their own ability to pay their mortgage? It is just as much the homeowners fault as it is the lender. People assumed their house would appreicate- if they could not make payments- they sell for a profit. Foolish. What ever happended to the standard conventional 30 year fixed with at least 10% down? I blame the homeowner just as much, if not more than the lender. People wanted to be in a house they knew they could not affort- and now they have to face the ramifications of their own foolishness. Hey- I'd love a bailout too...I have a 30 year fixed $400,000 loan at 6.75% - put down 20 % to avoid PMI..I could have bought a house twice as big...but that would have been wreckless and foolish. Will they take my rates down? I am not banking on it!

RBC Analysts Expect Potash Corp. Stock to Double
Well- I guess we'll see what the market thinks. I happen to agree with RBC, however at this point- it does not matter what I think or anyone else, the only thing that counts is the market perception.
      Good Trading to All.

Solarfun's Huge Run: Time To Lock in Solar Profits
A follow up to your comment on S+P downgrading their opinion on SOLF. This is very positive...do the opposite of what S+P says in their picks. For instance, take a look at LDK and their very positve news this morning- S+P actually downdraded them on 8/22!!!! WOW!!
What were they thinking???? S+P had a "Strong Buy" on shares of Synchronoss Tech (SNCR) all the way from the 30's down to 13!!! I could name other examples of S+P making terrible calls on stocks but it would take too long..To the longs out there- Ignore "valuation" calls on the solar stocks- the anaylysts are way behind the curve in terms of forward #'s and will have to adjust their 09 numbers grossly higher.
      Good Trading.

Solarfun's Huge Run: Time To Lock in Solar Profits
From a longs in the solar sector- we need more people like you. By the time you end up feeling like it is okay and "safe" to take a long position in the solar sector- you will have missed a huge percentage move in the marjority of the stocks in the sector. It is when people such as you decide to take a long position that concerns me- this is a sell signal for the longer term holders.....much like the fertilizer stocks this year, it seems everyoned decided that fertilizer stocks were the "place to be"-- well, once everyone and their siblings decided to ""jump in" the sector peaked and will likely not see it's old highs for the forseeable future. It is not said that great stocks climb a "wall of worry" for nothing. So thanks for the comments- I'll be sure to save it and take a look at it again in a few months, maybe respond again when the sector has doubled from current levels. Go buy some bank stocks...they're "cheap" right???? just make sure you buy twice the amount of puts if you go long and are up to date on Chapter 11 rules and regulations.
Last point- buy stocks with the highest earnings growth in the most rapidly growing sectors. Buy stocks going up, not down. Stocks that break to new highs, as ENER is about to do, tend to keep hitting new highs and people such as you sit back and shake your head wondering how this is possible.....
      Best of luck to you.

Solar Cycles and Stocks: The Sun Also Rises
I think it's best to tune the rhetoric out from all the naysayers and pay attention to what the market is telling us. Recently, with the price and volume action in several of the leading solar stocks- it apprears you are dead right on the possibility that we may be starting a sustainable and "game changing" bull market for the group and the energy industry...only time will tell.
      Long- ENER, SOL, SPWR, SOL
      Good Trading.

SunPower Is a Semi - It Deserves to Be Valued Like One
Forget valuations at this point. The market will focus on and reward the companies that have the best forward growth prospects as well as technology. Finally- charts tell the story. Tune the rhetoric out. A break over the 85 level on this stock with high volume and it will be gone. At the end of the day, all i care about is price action and volume. I want higher volume on up days and lighter volume on down days...while holding the trendlines.
Best of luck to you- thanks for the informative post.

Growth rates determine stock prices as well as market sentiment...not P/E's...Those who wathc P/E's all the time will always be looking up at the leaders who they think are overvalued...
Thin film seems to be the way to play the solars...like you- I also picked up some ENER today- Calls.

Potash Corp. Posts Record Q2 Earnings
Cannot go wrong buying either AGU, POT, MOS, CF, or SQM on this steep pullback. One has to wonder if the possibility of a strike by mining workers at POT is already being priced into the current share price.....any positive new on the strike could be a potential catalyst for higher share prices.

Great Post with facts to corroborate statements. This pullback represents an UNBELIEVABLE opportunity for those who want to make money on the long side. For those who think this group and POT are too expensive -- buy banks!! but BEWARE-- the fertilzer stocks trade at arguably the lowest forward PE's in the entire market!!
The Stocks to own- POT, MOS, AGU, CF, SQM
      Get LONG.

Agriculture: Are There Still Bulls in the Supermarket?
I do not agree with the fertilizer companies (AGU, POT, MOS, CF, SQM) being associated with commodities. This group should have nothing to do with how commodities trade- however it seems the market still groups the fertilizer companies with the commodity groups. What we are dealing with here is simple- SUPPLY and DEMAND.
I also must say- the group has NOT traded with a "nearly uninterrupted climb"-- There have been quite a few steep/sharp pullbacks which shake out short term players. It is important to note that each and every one of these pullbacks has been a tremendous opportunity to initiate a position or add to an existing postion- this is no different. Use this pullback to create a postion or add to an existing postion. MOS and CF report next week followed by AGU- I would bet we see a rotation back to what has worked in this market and an exit of the bear market bounce in financials.
      Best of luck to all.
Disclosure- Long CF, SQM, AGU calls

Marvell Tech: Color on RIMM Chatter
MRVL appears to be at an attractive entry point and I look for a strong rebound in the shares as overall market conditions improve. Addtionally, BRCM reports earnings later this month and could also help generate interest in MRVL and other related semi's. On a final note- it will be interesting to watch any developments with NOK in the future- which is not at all priced into the current price of MRVL.
