Apple's Surprising Jump After Bleak Guidance
Apple actually guided $7.8B(*) and delivered $7.9B, so it beat it's own guidance.

However I would like to know why the author thinks that 15x trailing earnings is a good price, when presumably he bought it at $118 in February, when it had a considerably higher P/E. Why was the high P/E ok then but not now? Are Apple's EpS growth prospects so reduced that at P/E of 15 is high? Is the author considering GAAP or non-GAAP earnings?

I personally think that Apple at worst will deliver no low growth (10%) for the next couple of quarters, and when this economic malaise subsides, we will find Apple growing a fourth leg to it's business model, in something we can not yet imagine.

      Apple Valuations: Still at Risk
No original analysis, merely a rehashing of Mr. Abramsky's work.

Mr. Abramsky doesn't count in Apple's strong fundamentals it's $21B cash reserve, and no debt. He believes that the only challenges to Apple are declining gross margins and loss of momentum, when he ignores potential competitors (they are getting good), and trouble with content providers.

Mr. Abramsky doesn't know how to analyze, FP desk is merely copying his work without paying him a royalty fee, and SeekingAlpha keeps on disappointing.

      How Low Will Apple Go?
The author assumes that Apple's P/E will approach that of the S&P 500 average, but gives no reason why. Since common sense, also known as fundamental analysis, has been thrown out of the window since August; I wonder why it should return now.

It is well known that Apple's FCF, balance sheet, income statement, and it CEO's blood pressure are solid; and that the current price is unjustified. I would prefer some more detailed technical analysis as to where AAPL is now and where it may go.

      Apple as a Target
Almost two years ago Apple's CEO wrote an open letter to the music industry urging them to abandon DRM, since licensing FairPlay is too risky. See: www.apple.com/hotnews/.../.
Therefore Mr. Maney' idea of targeting Apple seems a bit out of place.

Time For Growth Stocks Like Apple and Google?
In July Apple earned $1.19 vs the expected $1.08 beating by 10%.
In July Google earned $4.63 vs the expected $4.74, missing by 2%.
All indicators point that Apple will have another growth quarter, at least in revenues. I would expect the company to keep on growing in the short and long term, even though the stock price may stagnate until optimism returns to the market.

Steve Jobs' Health: A Red Herring
There is some truth in Apple's guidance. Apple has consistently been very conservative in EPS, by 30% in the last four quarters. But it has been more honest in revenue guidance, by being about 7% too conservative.

Consider the revenue guidance as realistic and then calculate an EPS. You will be surprised.

What Classifies Web Video as HD Quality?
What does the definition of HD video have to do with alpha portfolio management is beyond me.

SeekingAlpha.com should edit articles more closely and ensure that the topic stays on financial analysis and portfolio management, not some ramblings on this or that.

Options Market Indicating Another Apple Disappointment?
I wouldn't put too much faith on Max-Pain until close to expiration, and even then it can be simply blown away by momentum, just like it was last Friday, where the balance between calls and puts was at $145 (if I remember correctly)

      Spitzer: Self-Destruction
Why do people care whether he paid to have sex? The only person who should be involved is his wife, other than that, it is not our business what he does during his free-time.
Acres of explaining why Spitzer should go does nothing to explain why it is OK for Bush to sit in the White House after gross incompetence.

Apple's iPhone SDK: This is Brand New Big Sh*t, But
"And where are the social hooks? Can you establish social networks and build a social graph via the iPhone SDK? If not, why? If so, where is that outlined? I read over a dozen posts on the iPhone SDK and I didn't see the world social in any of them. The phone is the most personal (and therefore social) device in the world. There's got to be social hooks in something like this."

Facebook, myspace and other social networking sites are applications (developed with an SDK of some sorts) that are running on a server. If you want to build a social network and build graphs on your iPhone, wait till someone develops that application or better yet, do it yourself.

Be more concerned with the costs and revenues of the App store, developer reaction to the SDK, and competitors comments. Don't worry to much about building social networks on your iPhone: I prefer friends.

Apple Adds Option for More Memory to iPhone, iPod Touch
The price increase is a Sign of good sales for current iPhone models.
If sales were poor, Apple would have introduced the 16GB iPhone at the 8GB price and reduced the price of the 8GB to something like $299, or even dropped the 8Gb from the product line.
